We had a great time at this year’s New York Comic Con! Now that the dust has settled and the pieces of the red convention show floor have fallen from our clothing, we’d like to share a few highlights from our trip and give a shout-out to some amazing people we met and worked with.
Evil Ink Comics was proud to debut their brand new series Key of Z, allowing NYCC attendees to get a first look at Claudio and Chondra’s latest collaboration. Featuring interior art by Aaron Kuder (of The Amory Wars) and series covers by Nathan Fox, Key of Z Issue 1 is selling fast due to widespread acclaim. Issue 1 was released in stores on October 19, so grab a copy before they’re gone and add the series to your pull list. If you’ve already read it, come tell us what you think!
Claudio was honored to be a guest on the Batman: Arkham City panel alongside Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy and directors Sefton Hill and Nick Arundel. The panel included some excellent rapport, in which Claudio shared his enthusiasm for the Batman universe and his inspiration for “Deranged”. Check out video footage of the panel here.
We had a ton of fun with our very first NYCC Scavenger Hunt! We gave away swag from our Eterna Clothing Merch store. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to the participants and everyone who stopped by the Evil Ink booth to say hello to us. We were happy to see familiar faces from the boards and beyond, and we enjoyed meeting many new people during the signings – we hope to see you become active in our community soon! You can register for our message board here.
We also had the chance to sit down with Claudio and Chondra to ask some burning questions (and some odd ones as well). During our chat we covered all things Evil Ink, future storylines, updates from the Coheed universe, an awesome sneak peek at new material, and much more. Although we originally planned to transcribe it, we decided it would be better appreciated as audio – listen to the interview using the player below, then tell us what you think of these new details!
Special thanks go out to: Aaron Kuder, Natalie Zfat of The Road Tested, Clutter Magazine, Kara and Tony Moore, Nathan Fox, Paolo Belfiore and Cadence Comic Art, Chris Burnham, Peter David, Andy Menarchek Photography, Hunter Camp from Geeks of Doom, Bryan VanGelder from Radio.com, Lorren Kleinkauf from The Broken Radio and our pals from Butterfly Convict.
Last but not least we would like to thank the entire Evil Ink crew for their hospitality and for making this con an especially memorable one!
