What album do you think you’ll enjoy playing the most?
Right now I’m really enjoying Good Apollo One. It’s between that and In Keeping because those are albums where it’s gonna be really cool to watch how the crowd reacts to seeing them live. I’m really excited about all of the albums, but those two have been fun to tackle. I think that to go through it as flawless as possible will be? well, rewarding sounds stupid, but I’ll be really excited to have it come across the way we had been playing it in rehearsal. I guess rewarding is not a bad thing.

What’s the biggest difference in your playing style between Dillinger and Coheed?
There’s a lot to it, but I think that one of the very fundamental things, for me, is that there are not as many notes being played. It’s a very “right down the middle” type of gig, which is awesome. I had been with Dillinger for over ten years, and I had other things that I wanted to explore, be a part of, and try my hand at. This was definitely one of them. So, there’s [a] lot [of] space and a lot more of a traditional-rhythm-section thing going on in the way we approach the music. Mike, our bass player, and I definitely lock in. He’s very in-tune with what I’m doing, and vice-versa. He and I have this thing going on, especially on stage, where we’ll kind of just throw little things in here and there and that will add some variation [to the set]. We just let it go where it needs to go.
Also, since I have all of that time to get there — the songs are not moving by as quick — I can hit a little bit harder and lay into the drums. I have more time to react to things. Sometimes, if I’m throwing in a variation of a fill I can mess around with it a little bit more. The space is very open to me being able to throw different things in there without ruining the tune.

For those of you that made it to NYCC, you might have seen the tease above. This week marks the start of Mr. Sheldon getting to work on drawing Kill Audio, which will be coming off the computer screen and into your filthy little paws later this year. Keep checking back for progress reports, release dates, sketches and all the goods that comic book lovers should expect. It’s gonna be one hell of a ride.
What a great couple weeks this has been with Neverender coming out! Thanks for all your kind words, it seems like for the most part everyone seems really happy with it, and I can’t tell you how relieved and excited we are about that.
Also, as many of you know, I have a solo project called Davenport Cabinet. I really wanted all of you out there to help with the new DC video for the song “Nostalgia in Stereo.” So many of you received our recent request to video tape yourselves smashing stereos, to be used in the vid. Well, we now have like 40 epic smashing moments, and I want to thank you personally for sending those to me.
The footage was so awesome, we want to do the same for the next part of the vid – which is the singing-along-part. I will tape myself singing the song, but I also wanted to get as many of you out there that wanted to send in video of your self singing along, to do so too. So please be in my video.
Here is what you need to do!
1. Get some headphones.
Prefer that you use “retro” headphones – like the ones on this DC shirt ( http://new.merchnow.com/products/93623) – if you don’t have those kind, that’s fine too 2.Videotape yourself Lip-syncing the song – (Sing one hell of a performance!) in a environment of your choice. But the more interesting, the more likely it will be used. During a baseball game, in the park, on the street, in a river, wherever you think would be cool. 3. Send it to me.
