A Lucky Fan Sheds Light on No World For Tomorrow
29 09 2007Coheed and Cambria - No World For Tomorrow
Right, I’ll say again that there was a free bar, so my memory of the album was limited.
Theres a few standout moments that you’ll wanna hear tho, i’ll try and convey as much as possible. I can’t recall every song tho….
The Reaping
- The subtle acoustic introduction. It works so well and sets up the rest of the album. Its beautiful, just as ‘Always and Never’ was, its a calm before the storm.
No World For Tomorrow
- Definitely this albums ‘Welcome Home’. It powers through, but with the variations that welcome home missed. Its not as straight forward and better off for it.
The Hound (Of Blood And Rank)
- I’ve heard it recorded and live and this song is just fantastic. I’m sure you’ve seen the snippets on youtube. Its a great song and flows brilliantly.
Feathers
- As suspected it, it is the poppiest track here, but nothing like ‘Blood Red Summer’ (my least favourite coheed song. controversial…) Blood Red Summer has very little energy, but feathers bounces along with so much energy and has one of the most awesome solos in it
Mother Superior
- I loved the first ever recording with claudio playing solo, but in contrast, having the full band as well as strings just turns this song into an epic flow. It moves you. Yes, theres a couple of variations at the end but it doesnt affect the song at all.
Radio Bye Bye
- Garettap mentioned this was very ‘Volume 1′. What i have to say is that nothing on this album is like volume 1. The entire band has made such a progression. I’ll mention this in a bit…
On The Brink
- This song is simply amazing. it captures the finale perfectly and with its length has the time to make itself an epic.
I can some up the album much better with the following paragraph…
The band have progressed so much so that it shouldn’t be regarded as a ‘Volume 2′, but as a complete album by its self. There are no filler songs. ‘Once upon your dead body’ and ‘mother may i’ can sometimes come across as, not filler, but story driven and downbeat. On no world for tomorrow, this doesn’t happen and the perfect balance creates songs that stand up on their own.
Claudios vocals are magical and sweeping and there is so much drive and intent with the bands playing.
I’ll try and sum it up. The album powers along with so much drive and intent and it doesn’t let up at all. From start to finish it takes you on an epic ride.
